The Heraclitean Challenge: Matter in Plato and Aristotle (proposal in progress)
Much recent work asks how Plato and Aristotle respond to Eleatic premises. This line of research, I propose, reveals only one side of the story. The other side comes to light when we ask how Plato and Aristotle respond to Heraclitus. My book argues that attention to a distinctive Heraclitean challenge illuminates fundamental questions about the notion of matter in Plato and Aristotle.
